**More than 50 local restaurants, hotels and catering companies to
participate in San Diego’s premier tasting event benefitting Mama’s Kitchen;
nearly 650 guests expected to attend**

WHAT: Mama’s Day 2017. Join us as 50 restaurants, hotels and catering companies come together for an evening of music, culinary delights and fun for Mama’s Kitchen, a non-profit organization which prepares and delivers nutrition-specific meals free of charge to men, women and children affected by AIDS or cancer throughout San Diego County. Mama’s Day is always held the Friday evening before Mother’s Day, and supports Mama’s Kitchen’s belief that every person is entitled to the basic necessity of life – nutritious food.

General admission tickets for Mama’s Day 2017 are $175 at the door. Pre-sale tickets are available for $150. A limited number of premium VIP tickets are available at $250 per person.

WHY: Mama’s Kitchen believes everyone is entitled to the basic necessity of life — nutritious food. The organization prepares and delivers three nutritious meals a day, seven days a week at no charge to men, women and children living with AIDS or cancer. In the fiscal year 2016 (ending June 30, 2016), Mama’s Kitchen delivered 279,351 meals to 460 San Diegans affected by HIV/AIDS, and 68,907 meals to 170 San Diegans affected by cancer, including 45,939 meals to 104 children whose parents were affected by HIV/AIDS or cancer. The organization has delivered more than 8.5 million meals since its inception nearly three decades ago.

INTERVIEWS AND VISUALS:

  • This year’s event is chaired by long-time volunteer Jennifer Kearns. Jennifer has served Mama’s Kitchen for over two decades as a donor and board member (2004 to 2010; 2014-present).
  • 55 of San Diego’s top chefs from all areas of the county personally mingle with and serve guests savory and sweet selections, many especially created just for the evening.
  • Guests will bid on an extensive silent auction or buy a chance to win fabulous prizes in an opportunity drawing to help raise critical funds for those most vulnerable to hunger in San Diego County.
  • An estimated 600+ guests showing their support for Mama’s Kitchen.
