CASE STUDY
San Diego Seniors Community Foundation
Report reveals inadequacies of local senior centers
Overview
San Diego Seniors Community Foundation completed a comprehensive, first-of-its-kind study of every senior center in San Diego County in the first half of 2019. The study identified significant challenges and opportunities for improvement. To respond to San Diego’s growing senior population, the organization believes that significant investment in senior centers will play a major role in improving the wellbeing of older adults.
Challenge
To promote the launch of the San Diego Seniors Community Foundation’s inaugural report and mission and philanthropic efforts to address senior issues in our region as well as inspire community and government officials to begin a meaningful dialogue about taking care of San Diego’s seniors.
Results
Over the course of the three-month media relations campaign, the Scatena Daniels team secured 62+ media interviews including a full-page article in the Local section of the San Diego Union-Tribune and multiple interviews on KPBS. Media pitching focused on key findings from the report as well as Gov. Newsom's California Master Plan on Aging and other “news of the day” angles. The client was able to repurpose the media placements we garnered through their various marketing channels including web, e-blast, social media to position the Foundation as a thought-leader in the aging space.
