VISTA, CALIF. – JUNE 19, 2015 — Moonlight Stage Productions announces “Titanic” is the fourth production added to the summer 2016 schedule. The San Diego regional premiere of the haunting, five-time Tony award-winning production is August 16, 2016, and runs through Sept. 3, 2016.
“Titanic” is a riveting musical in which the hopes and dreams of rich and poor, heroes and cowards, lovers and foes are woven together in a celebration of the human spirit. “’Titanic’ is an epic, moving show that is intimidating to many theatres because of its size and scope, says Steve Glaudini, producing artistic director, Moonlight Stage Productions. “I feel the real reason to produce this majestic piece is that it doesn’t rely on a fictional story, but of the true history of these First, Second, Third Class passengers and Crew of the Titanic through the stunning music of Maury Yeston and the beautiful book by the master script writer Peter Stone. With our new theatre we can give this rarely produced work full justice.”
As of June 19, 2015, the 36th season schedule has been set and includes the following productions:
Music by Alan Menken
Lyrics by Glenn Slater
Book by Cheri Steinkellner and Bill Steinkellner
Additional Book Material by Douglas Carter Beane

The sinking of the Titanic in the early hours of April 15, 1912, remains the quintessential disaster of the twentieth century. A total of 1,517 souls—men, women and children—lost their lives (only 711 survived). The fact that the finest, largest, strongest ship in the world-called, in fact, the “unsinkable” ship-should have been lost during its maiden voyage is so incredible that, had it not actually happened, no author would have dared to contrive it. The musical play “Titanic” is a factual story that examines the causes, the conditions and the characters involved in this ever-fascinating drama.
