VISTA, CA – May 8, 2017 – Grab your girls, guys or significant other and spend a sizzling summer evening with sultry singer-songwriter, Spencer Day, at the Avo Playhouse in Vista, Calif. The one-night-only concert is Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 7 p.m. Doors open to the public at 6:30 p.m. and tickets can be purchased via Proceeds benefit Moonlight Cultural Foundation in support of the City of Vista’s award-winning community treasure Moonlight Stage Productions as well as Moonlight Youth Theatre. The concert featuring Spencer Day is generously sponsored by Kent Leithold, director of first impressions, for the Vista Chamber of Commerce.

“My entire life I have had a long and unwavering commitment to the arts,” said Kent Leithold, concert sponsor and Moonlight Cultural Foundation donor. “My passion has always been centered on live theatre, the visual arts and music. It is my pleasure while working for the Vista Chamber of Commerce and partnering with my friends at the Moonlight Cultural Foundation that we are proudly bringing internationally known singer-songwriter, Spencer Day, to the community of Vista. With the stunning release of “Angel City,” Day’s fifth release to date, we get to share his effortless blend of jazz and pop while falling under the spell of his lush, smooth vocals, and sparkling wit. This is the night that our community will not want to miss. He’s just that good. Period.”

San Diego County resident Spencer Day is a modern jazz phenom who has performed for more than 10 years at diverse venues around the world, including Birdland in New York, the Hollywood Bowl, Jazz Alley in Seattle, the Pacific Rim Jazz Festival in Manila, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Tanglewood Music Center in Boston, and The Craig Ferguson Show. He’s best known for his original songs that blend compelling melodies, smart lyrics and lush arrangements, and performs shows that infuse elements of cabaret, storytelling, and comedy with his piano and vocals. Day’s recent album “Daybreak” debuted at #1 on the iTunes Jazz Chart, which seamlessly blends five new, original works as well as fan-favorite covers like The Rascals’ “Groovin,” Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots Are Made for Walkin’,” and The Association’s “Never My Love.” “Daybreak” also debuted on Billboard’s top Jazz Albums at number 20 and Contemporary Jazz Albums at number 11. The album reflects his roots in the Great American Songbook, with a contemporary, upbeat twist that Day is well-known for by also paying tribute to the sound, feel, and sensibility that defined the Southern California mid-century experience. Concert attendees will enjoy songs off “Daybreak” as well as other arrangements reaching back through a decade of work.

In addition to his music, Day is also well-known for his activism for the LGBTQIA+ community and charitable giving to organizations that benefit causes, including HIV/AIDS, children’s health, and human rights. In June 2010, Day had the opportunity to ring NASDAQ’s closing bell in recognition of his donation of earnings from downloads of his single “Better Way” to Feeding America. He came out publicly as gay in an interview in March 2010. Growing up in Utah, in a Mormon household, Day hopes to build a positive bridge between the LGBTQIA+ and Mormon communities.

With a performance of this caliber, Moonlight Cultural Foundation hopes to increase and continue an appreciation for the arts, culture and diversity in San Diego, and specifically in North County. The one-night-only event also demonstrates the foundation’s commitment to the region’s economic development. The foundation is a member of “Innovate 78,” a collaboration of businesses, government and nonprofits along San Diego’s Highway 78 corridor, which aims to better position the communities along the common corridor with the goal of retaining current businesses and promoting new economic development.

Single tickets are just $35. VIP meet-and-greet experiences after the show at Belching Beaver Tavern may also be purchased for $25 (on top of the general admission price). VIP guests 21 and up will also enjoy wine as well as light bites. Tickets and VIP packages are on sale now. To purchase, please call 760-630-7650 or visit
