SAN DIEGO – March 25, 2015 – Moonlight Cultural Foundation, the fundraising arm and producing partner of the highly recognized Moonlight Stage Productions, announces the addition of Toria Watson as executive director.
In her new role, working in concert with the board of directors and volunteers, Toria will provide organizational and strategic leadership to move the Foundation forward, as well as to enhance the relationship between the Foundation, donors and the community. She is also charged with raising the visibility of the organization and growing corporate and foundation giving.
“I am pleased to welcome Toria Watson to Moonlight Cultural Foundation family,” stated Jane Mitchell, the organization’s board president. “Toria’s well-regarded nonprofit background and passionate devotion to the arts comes at a great time as the foundation continues to grow its scope of support to Moonlight Stage Productions.”
Watson has been an integral part of the nonprofit and arts industries for more than 10 years. Prior to this position she served as director of corporate development and special events for the San Diego chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Watson is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, is a Fieldstone Foundation Emergent Leaders’ graduate and has a certification in fundraising management from the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy-Indiana University. She has also lent her professional support to a number of causes, but most recently to the annual CLASSY Awards, the largest social impact awards ceremony in the United States which highlights the greatest champions of social progress.
“I am beyond honored to be selected to lead this amazing Foundation and support the artistic creations of Moonlight Stage Productions,” said Watson. “Combining my passions for the arts and nonprofits, I am looking forward to moving the organization forward and building support and awareness across San Diego County.”
A San Diego native, Watson studied classical ballet under Louise Glenn of San Diego Civic Youth Ballet and Jacqueline Hepner of Ballet Society San Diego, receiving scholarships to both School of American Ballet and San Francisco Ballet Theatre. She has toured with the Santa Barbara Ballet Company as a guest artist performing in a variety of roles. A Point Loma resident with her husband of 25 years, two sons (ages 19 and 21), and three Jack Russell terriers, Watson loves an active lifestyle and has completed three marathons including the Boston Marathon.
