VISTA, CA – Sept. 23, 2016 – “Remember When Rock Was Young” stars the multiple award-winning, multi-talented singer/actor/pianist, Craig A. Meyer. He is considered to be the best Elton John tribute artist performing today whose strong vocals, striking resemblance and amazing talent on the piano has audiences everywhere remembering when rock was young. This spectacular, high-energy show, which features Meyer along with eight musicians and professional singers, comes to the Moonlight Amphitheatre on Friday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m.

“Remember When Rock Was Young” is a full-force, musical journey celebrating the decades of chart topping hits of Sir Elton John, including: “Benny and the Jets,” “Philadelphia Freedom,” “Crocodile Rock,” “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” and “Candle in the Wind.” A celebration of the character, costumes and charisma of the famed pianist and singer, Meyer’s fully-produced show has captivated audiences throughout the United States and internationally. Guests are sure to enjoy a tribute that celebrates decades of chart-topping songs.

Throughout Meyer’s busy career on stage, on screen and in the recording studio, he was repeatedly approached about his striking resemblance to Elton John and his uncanny ability to sound like the rock ‘n’ roll legend. Meyer was eventually persuaded to expand his repertoire and began impersonating Sir Elton John.

ABOUT CRAIG A. MEYER
Meyer has traversed all four corners of the entertainment industry, making strong impressions in theatre, film, television and music. On Broadway, Meyer created the role of Clinton Badger in MGM’s classic “Meet Me In St Louis” and toured nationally in “Cats” as Skimbleshanks, The Red Caboose in “Starlight Express,” and Mike Nulty in “Irving Berlin’s White Christmas.” Meyer worked with Alan Menken on Disney’s “Aladdin,” and with Tim Rice and Elton John on “The Lion King.” Other television and film appearances include guest starring roles on “Necessary Roughness,” “Will & Grace,” “Good Morning Miami,” “Family Law,” “General Hospital,” and “Fernwood 2Nite.” Film credits include “Leatherheads” with George Clooney and Renee Zellweger, “Joyful Noise” with Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah, and his latest project “Identity Thief” with Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy, released in 2013.

In music, Meyer has toured internationally and recorded with music legends Barry Manilow and Frankie Valli, and has headlined for Princess Cruises, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruises and Regent Cruises around the world.

ABOUT “MOONLIGHT PRESENTS”
“Moonlight Presents” is a cultural arts program of the City of Vista and its first season is being offered in 2016. The program was announced in the Fall of 2014 and is curated and produced by Cultural Arts Program Manager Daniel Kays. “Moonlight Presents” programming enables year-round programming at the Moonlight Amphitheatre that also includes its popular and award-winning musical theatre offerings produced by Moonlight Stage Productions. “Moonlight Presents” offers three series in the spring and fall: Moonlight Live! and Moonlight Variety. From January through March, the Amphitheatre stage is transformed into an intimate indoor space called ClubM offering the Moonlight Cabaret series.

“Moonlight Presents” is a new cultural arts program of the City of Vista. Concerts and performances are held at the outdoor Moonlight Amphitheatre or at the Avo Playhouse. Tickets for “Moonlight Presents” are on sale now in person at the VisTix box office, by phone at 760-724-2110 and online at moonlightstage.com. For these events, no outside food or drinks are permitted. The Artisan Café will be open, offering a full-range of food and beverages. “Moonlight Presents” is produced through the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Vista and is presented in partnership with the Moonlight Cultural Foundation.

For “Moonlight Presents,” gates open one hour prior to curtain. Three new discounted seating areas are offered:

  • Fringe Seats: These are reserved seats on the outer edges of the reserved seat section.
  • Reserved Lawn: This option provides patrons the convenience of not having to line-up early at the gate hours before performances to get the best lawn seats. Just like a reserved seat, patrons can now reserve a spot on the lawn. Lawn chairs will be provided as part of the ticket price.
  • General Admission Lawn: This seating area is located on the “Great Lawn” located on the hillside at the back of the amphitheatre. This area is steeply discounted and perfect for families looking for an affordable way to experience a night out at the theatre. Lawn chairs are provided as part of the ticket price. (NOTE: FOR ALL LAWN AREAS, NO OUTSIDE CHAIRS ARE PERMITTED).
