SAN DIEGO – July 23, 2015 – Every year, National Philanthropy Day is celebrated throughout the United States. This fall, the Association of Fundraising Professionals San Diego Chapter (AFP San Diego) will honor community members and organizations at the 43rd Annual National Philanthropy Day luncheon slated for Monday, Nov. 9, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Hilton Bayfront Hotel San Diego. National Philanthropy Day San Diego highlights the long-term community impact of philanthropy, the role of the development staff and volunteers and celebrates the rich diversity in the region.
National University’s Sanford Institute of Philanthropy, which is dedicated to supporting the positive impacts of nonprofits through a focus on fundraising, is the presenting sponsor of National Philanthropy Day 2015. Serving as co-chairs for the event are Dr. Allyson Handley, executive director of National University’s Sanford Education Center that includes the Sanford Institute of Philanthropy, and Nancy Rohland, executive vice president of National University. Nancy Jamison, executive director of San Diego Grantmakers, is the honorary committee chairperson.
Proceeds from the National Philanthropy Day awards luncheon support the AFP San Diego’s professional development, diversity and scholarship initiatives. More than 1,000 people are expected to attend the awards luncheon, from local nonprofits as well as local philanthropists and community service leaders. The finalists honored at the event make an outstanding impact in the communities of San Diego though their compassionate work and caring ways to help improve the lives of others.
